Eco-Industrial-Chic Wedding Inspiration

I am so excited to start off 2013 with these beautiful photos from Bliss by Blue Sky’s of our eco-industrial-chic wedding inspiration space for The Look of Love bridal showcase. In designing this space, our team wanted to create an “at home” feel, where guests feel like they’ve been invited into a beautiful, warm, rustic home with a little bit of industrial edge and gilded glamour.

The space was designed by Lindsay Longacre of LVL Events using items from Archive Rentals. The talk of the day was this amazing hanging centerpiece created by Aly Morford of The Vine’s Leaf. (You want one now, too, right? We all did!!)

I really love how the chalkboard and hand-torn linen signage came together! And, of course, some parting shots of the Save the Dates and invitations placed in our inspiration space.

A huge THANK YOU to Kristin and Emily for these beautiful shots!

Ombre Hand-Stamped Natural Linen Wedding Invitation

Here they are: pictures of the eco-industrial-chic invitation we designed for The Look of Love! It was such an amazing event, working with Lindsay from LVL Weddings & Events, Aly from The Vine’s Leaf, and Emily and Kristin from Bliss by Blue Sky’s Photography, not to mention meeting so many lovely couples. I absolutely CANNOT wait for the photos from Bliss so you can see Lindsay’s amazing tablescape and Aly’s show-stopping hanging floral centerpiece (yes, I said hanging centerpiece)!

For the stationery suite, I really wanted to play with chalkboard signage because I love how it has that industrial vibe yet is still warm and inviting. The chalkboard effect was center stage on Rachel & Noah’s save the dates, but I also wanted to provide a little hint to the invitation to come by backing these with the same natural linen fabric we used on the invites.

This was such a fun project to work on because it was a perfect opportunity to try something I’ve always wanted to do: custom hand-stamped fabric folders! The couple’s custom monogram was inked in purple and metallic gold to create an ombre effect for the front of our handmade linen folder.

For a slight twist on the ribbon accent, I sewed a thin satin ribbon down the spine of the fabric folder, giving the invitation the feel of a vintage book. I decided to keep the printed pieces simple and in black and white, a more formal look but still in the same vein as our chalkboard theme.

The event stationery was a great opportunity to bring the chalkboard look back! Not only did we have chalkboard style menus, we had individual chalkboard style place cards and drink & cheeseboard signage that were mounted on hand-torn linen so it had these wonderful frayed edges.

Like I said…cannot wait for the event photos so you can see how the inspiration space all came together!

Fabric Inspiration : Eco-Chic Industrial Linen Wedding Invitation

Planning a wedding is so much about picking the right team of people to help you create the event of your dreams. That’s why I LOVE the concept behind The Look of Love bridal showcase next Sunday, November 18th, hosted by California Wedding Day. Unlike traditional bridal shows where you wander from booth to booth meeting individual vendors, this event puts them all together for you in three inspirational spaces so you can see how a team of people come together to make a concept come to life.

I’m thrilled to be working with an amazing team—LVL Weddings & Events, The Vine’s Leaf, Bliss by Blue Skys Photography, Archive Vintage Rentals, and One Hope Weddings—to create an eco-industrial-chic wedding space. It’s going to be amazing! I’ll share more details in the coming days as I work through the Save the Dates and invitations that will go with this wedding inspiration, but in the mean time, check out the photos taken by Bliss by Blue Skys of our inspiration couple, our team’s Pinterest board, and my personal inspiration board for the paper suite below.

Fabric Inspiration : A Bali Wedding

I’m so excited to share a little peek at the invitation we’ve been working on in the studio this week!

This worldly couple currently lives in Hong Kong and is planning an amazing cliffside sunset wedding in Bali. She’s Korean American, he’s Chinese Singaporean, and their guests will be flying in from all over the world! In speaking with our bride, it was clear she was drawn to the deep blues and greens of the ocean and that she wanted their invitations to reflect either a little bit of their Asian heritage or a little bit of Bali–without being clichéd in any way. She and her fiancé both love clean, contemporary design and were initially drawn to our [Viceroy invite](http://www.bluemagpieinvitations.com/gallery/the-viceroy.html).

It sounds like a lot to incorporate into one invitation, but I just LOVE designing for couples who really want their invites to reflect themselves and their upcoming event…and I couldn’t have been more thrilled to find this beautiful Asian-inspired fabric!

The deep blue, teal, and gold make me think of sun-kissed ocean waves, and the subtle metallic outlines bring a level of tradition and sophistication to an otherwise modern-looking fabric. From there, we decided to bring in the hydrangeas that will be used throughout her event for her printed pieces–but with a slight Balinese wood carving twist–and we were off and running!

Coming soon…the actual invitations!
